How to Put in a WPA-PSK Into a PS3

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) computer entertainment system connects to wireless networks using various methods of security, including Wi-Fi Protected Access-Pre-Shared Key (WPA-PSK). WPA-PSK is a form of Wi-Fi security most commonly used for home Internet networks. The password for a WPA-PSK is 10 keys long and is established when setting up the router for the home network. Connect to the online matchmaking and content service for the PS3 -- PlayStation Network (PSN) -- after you've connected to the secured Internet network.

      Select the "Settings" icon on the PS3 menu bar and then choose "Network Settings."

      Scroll down to "Internet Connection" and select "Enabled." Scroll down to "Internet Connection Settings," press the " button and select "Wireless."

      Select "Easy" and press the X button. Select "Wireless" as the connection type. Select "Scan" and select the name of your wireless network name (SSID). To the right of your wireless network nameis the type of security it uses (WPA-PSK). Press "Right on the directional pad" and select "WPA-PSK" as the security type.

      Navigate the on-screen keyboard and enter the WPA-PSK password for your wireless network. Press the X button to save the settings. Select "Test Connection." The PS3 automatically uses the entered settings when connecting to the wireless network after the test completes.
