How Do I Play With Four Players on My PS3 With Two USB Ports?

The PS3 supports up to seven controllers simultaneously. The larger, first generation PS3 consoles included four USB ports. The slimmer, 120 GB PS3 only includes two. All official PS3 controllers are wireless and do not need to be connected to a USB port for use on the PS3, although they still can be used while charging via the USB ports. You can use four controllers after pairing them one at a time to the PS3.

Instructions

  Turn the PS3 off and connect the USB cable that comes with the system into any of the USB ports on the PS3. Connect the opposite end of the USB cable into the USB port on the top of the controller.

  Turn on the PS3. Press the "PS" button on the center of the controller. The lights on the shoulder of the controller will flash and stabilize, indicating the pairing is complete.

  Disconnect the controller from the USB cable and repeat the process with the remaining three controllers.
