How to Enter an IP Address Into a PS3 Manually

An IP address is a unique series of numbers assigned by your Internet service provider (ISP) or router if you're using one. There are two types of IP addresses: static and dynamic. A static IP address never changes, while a dynamic IP address usually changes every few weeks. Regardless of the type of IP address you have, you can enter it (and other advanced network options) into the PS3 manually from the Network Settings menu.

Instructions

    • 1

Select "Settings" from the PS3 menu. Select "Network Settings."

    • 2

Go down to Internet Connection and select "Enabled." Go down to "Internet Connection Settings" and press the "X" button.

    • 3

Select "Custom" as the setting method. Select "Wired" if you're connected to your Internet network via an Ethernet cable or select "Wireless" if you're connected to your Internet network wirelessly.

    • 4

Select "Auto-Detect" as the operation mode. Select "Manual" to manually enter an IP address. Select "IP Address" and use the on-screen keyboard to enter the IP address. Press the "Right" button on the directional pad to continue configuring other connection settings relative to your Internet network.
