Wired Broadband Connectivity
Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into an available Ethernet port on your router.
Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on your PlayStation 3.
Turn on your PlayStation 3.
Navigate to "Settings." Navigate to "Network Settings."
Navigate to "Internet Connection Settings." A confirmation window opens informing you that the PlayStation 3 will be disconnected from the Internet. Select "Yes."
Select "Easy" when the Internet connection wizard appears. Confirm the detected network configuration.
Enter in any additional network information. This will vary depending on your Internet service provider. If you do not have the information needed, call your service provider's technical support or check its website for the relevant information.
Save the settings. Navigate to "Test the connection." A window appears asking you to confirm the results. Confirm them. The network information is displayed after a successful test.
Wireless Broadband Connectivity
Turn on your PlayStation 3.
Write your wireless network's information down or have it displayed on a nearby monitor. You'll need your wireless network's name, security type and the password or security key.
Unplug any Ethernet cables connected to your PlayStation 3.
Navigate to "Settings." Navigate to "Network Settings."
Navigate to and select "Internet Connection Settings." A confirmation screen appears telling you that entering this screen will disconnect the PS3 from the Internet. Select "Yes" on this screen.
Select "Easy" in the window that appears. Select "Wireless" from the options window that opens.
Choose the "Scan" options to have your PS3 scan for wireless signals. Select the "Automatic" connection setup option if it is available. Not all PS3 consoles have an automatic setup option.
Select your wireless network from the available options. Select the security type and then enter your password or encryption key.
Enter any additional settings required for your network. Save your entered network settings.
Select "Test your connection." Confirm the test results.
