How to Change Strict NAT on PSN

The NAT type of your PlayStation 3 affects how easy or difficult it is to connect to other players and games when playing online. If your NAT type is set to "Strict" it will result in it being rather difficult for you to connect to a player or game online. However, to change the NAT type of your PS3 you need to gain access to your router settings.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Start" button on the desktop taskbar and select "All Programs" from the menu.

    • 2

Click on the "Accessories" folder and then select "Command Prompt." Type "Ipconfig" into the text bar at the bottom of the Command Prompt window and press "Enter" on your keyboard. Write down the IP address to your "Default Gateway."

    • 3

Open your web browser and click on the address bar. Type your Default Gateway's IP address into the bar and press enter. Enter the username and password for your router if prompted.

    • 4

Click on the "Administrator" tab on your router settings and look for "UPnP" (Universal Plug and Play.)

    • 5

Tick the box to "Enable UPnP." Click on the "Save" button to confirm the changes. Restart your router and turn on your PS3. Your NAT type will no longer be "Strict."
