How Do I Plug in My WiFi on My PS3?

The PlayStation3 built-in Wi-Fi adapter can be used to connect to your home Wi-Fi network. Once you've established a connection with your Wi-Fi network, you will be able to connect to a media server via your PC or connect to the PlayStation Network. A Media Server connection allows you to stream media (including audio, video and photos) to the PS3. The PlayStation Network is used to play supported multiplayer games online and offers other services including Netflix and game demos.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the PS3. Scroll to the "Settings" icon on the main menu. Select "Network Settings."

    • 2

Go to Internet Connection and select "Enabled." Go to Internet Connection Settings and press the "X" button. Select "Easy" as the connection type and press the "X" button. Select "Wireless" as the connection method.

    • 3

Select "Scan" and press the "X" button. Select the name of your Wi-Fi network. Press the "Right" button on the directional pad or analog stick. Select the type of security your Wi-Fi network uses and use the on-screen keyboard to enter the password, if necessary. If you don't know which security type it uses, try them all.

    • 4

Press the "X" button to save the settings. Select "Test Connection." If the test is successful, the setup will be complete and the PS3 will use the settings to connect to the Wi-Fi network automatically. Press the "O" button to return to the main menu. If the test is unsuccessful, the reasoning (such as an incorrect password) and probable solution will be displayed. Press "Left" on the directional pad to edit the previously entered settings, if necessary.
