How to Identify a Toshiba TheaterView HDTV

The "TheaterView" is a line of HDTV-compatible projection television sets designed by Toshiba. It is an older line of televisions that is no longer in production. Because they were projection TVs, these units tended to be larger, typically ranging from around 32 inches in screen size upward. If you want to identify whether or not your Toshiba television is a TheaterView set, you can do so by looking for a few specific characteristics.

Instructions

    • 1

Look for the "Toshiba TheaterView" identification label on the front of the television set, directly beneath the screen. This label will have both the "Toshiba" brand logo and the logo of the "TheaterView" line as well as the exact model number of the TV in question.

Examine the original print manual that came with your Toshiba television set. If the television set that you own is a TheaterView projection set, this information will be listed in a number of different places on the manual. The locations include but are not limited to on the cover, on the technical specifications page and on the page immediately following the cover on the inside of the manual.

Go to a site like CNET.com on your computer. Any site like CNET or Consumer Reports that has been providing consumers with reviews of television sets for years will work. Type the model number of your Toshiba projection television set into the "Search" bar on the website and locate a review for the television. If your Toshiba TV is a "TheaterView" model, this will be written in the review.
