How to Hook Up the TRITTON AX Pro for PS3

The Tritton AX Pro is a Dolby Digital compatible gaming headset that features eight total speakers, 5.1 surround sound capability, removable microphone, external audio decoder and an in-line volume controller. The Tritton AX Pro is compatible with the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and other audio sources that feature a digital optical output, or 3.5 mm analog output. Connecting the Tritton AX Pro to your PS3 gaming system is a simple task, when using the supplied cables.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the PlayStation 3 game console.

    • 2

Remove the Tritton AX Pro components from the packaging and insert the microphone boom into the slot provided on the bottom of the earphones.

    • 3

Remove the small caps from each end of the optical cable. Connect the optical cable from the small corresponding port located at the rear of the PS3. Connect the other end of the optical cable to the black optical port located on the side of the decoder box.

    • 4

Connect the headset dongle to the corresponding cable connector leading from the volume controller. Connect the large round-shaped plug leading from the volume controller to one of the two 9-pin "Earphone" ports on the side of the decoder box.

    • 5

Connect the squared end of the USB cable to the USB port found on the decoder box. Connect the remaining end of the USB cable to an available USB port on the PS3.

    • 6

Connect one of the power adapter plugs into the decoder's "DC IN" port. Connect the remaining power adapter plug into the smaller female DC wire connector leading from the volume controller.

    • 7

Plug the A/C wall adapter into a suitable electrical outlet. Hit the "Power" button located on the side of the decoder box. Turn on the television and PS3.

    • 8

Navigate to the "System Settings" menu, followed by "Accessory Settings" and enter the "Audio Device Settings," using your game controller. Configure the input and output settings to use the "C-Media USB" source. Speak into the microphone and watch the level indicator on the television screen; check the mute switch and volume levels on the volume controller if the level indicator fails to move.

    • 9

Change the sound settings to the "Digital Optical" output option and enable the "Dolby 5.1" check box. Disable the "DTS" option, if applicable.

    • 10

Exit the settings menu and test the earphone and microphone settings by playing a game title or movie. Make the necessary audio adjustments using the controls located on the decoder box and volume controller.
