How to Slide the Top off a PS3

It is possible with many electronic devices to add custom components, such as memory. To do this you must open up the device. The Sony PlayStation 3 can be opened by sliding the top off in order to access the system inside. This should be done with the power off and the utmost caution to avoid damaging any components.

Things You'll Need

• Torx screwdriver
• Phillips head screw driver
• Small flathead screw driver

     Pry off the rubber foot on the left-hand side of the console with a screwdriver.

     Remove the Torx security screw located underneath the rubber foot.

   • 3

     Slide the top of the case to the left. This might require more force if performing the action for the first time. Slide the case as far as it will go and lift it off.
