How to Hook Up a Playstation 3 to a Dynex Flat-screen TV

Dynex is a brand of flat-screen televisions produced by Best Buy with audio/video connections compatible with media devices such as VCRs, DVDs and game consoles. Dynex TVs are available in different sizes and styles and have several A/V connection types. The Sony PlayStation 3 game console can be hooked up to a Dynex flat-screen using either the composite RCA connection or an HDMI cable.

Instructions

  1. Composite RCA Connection with PS3 A/V Cable

    • 1

      Connect the square plug of the A/V cable into the rear port on the PlayStation 3 console. The "AV MULTI OUT" port is on the right side of the cable input panel.

      RCA cables have three colored plugs that correspond to video and two audio channels.

      Connect the three RCA plugs of the A/V cable into the Dynex flat-screen television. The RCA plugs have three colors for video (yellow), left audio (white) and right audio (red) that correspond to port colors on the television.

      Turn on the television and set the video input to "Video 1" using the remote control. To cycle through video inputs, press the "Input" button on the remote.

      Turn on the PlayStation 3. After the PS3 boots up, the TV will display the PS3 home screen.

    HDMI

      Connect the HDMI plug into the PS3 console's "HDMI OUT" port, which is on the left side of the cable input panel.

      Connect the HDMI plug into one of the two HDMI input ports on the Dynex television set.

      Turn on the television and set the video input to "HDMI 1" if you plugged it into the "HDMI 1" port or "HDMI 2" if you plugged it into the "HDMI 2" port.

      Turn on the PlayStation 3 console and the TV will display the PS3 home screen.
