How to Place Video Files Onto the PlayStation 3

The PlayStation 3 represents a break from the traditional closed video game console in that it can accept all sorts of storage devices and different kinds of USB peripherals, such as a mouse and a keyboard, as well as play media files and browse the Internet. This myriad of inputs makes it easy to stream or store media files from a wireless or wired home network.

Attach the flash drive or hard drive to the computer with the video files. Create a new folder on the removable called "VIDEO" on the removable drive and then copy the video files from the computer to the folder on the removable storage.

Remove the storage drive and then plug it into the PS3. Since you created the video folder, it should automatically show up when you navigate to the "Video" tab on the XMB. Click on the "Removable Drive" icon.

Press "Triangle" to open the context menu for a video file and then select "Copy" or "Move" (which functions like "Cut" on a computer) to copy the file to the PS3's hard drive. There is also an option called "Copy Group," which can move multiple video files at once. You can also open the context menu on the removable drive itself to copy the entire contents.
