How to Put a Wireless WAP/WEP Key Into a PS3

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) gaming console comes equipped with a built in Wi-Fi adapter. Set up the wireless Internet on your PS3 to play games online, view pictures, surf the Internet, and listen to and download music. To activate the wireless settings on your PS3, you must set them up first; doing so consists of entering the correct WAP/WEP key.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your PS3 and scroll over to the "Settings" tab. Scroll down the menu that opens and select "Network Settings."

    • 2

Press the "X" key on your controller to open the Network Settings menu. Scroll down to "Internet Connection Settings." Press "X" on your controller to enable the Internet connections.

    • 3

Highlight "Easy" and press the right button on your controller's directional pad. Select "Wireless" and press the right button on your controller's directional pad.

    • 4

Enter your SSID name in the appropriate field. If you do not know your SSID name, highlight "Scan" and press the right button on your controller's directional pad.

    • 5

Select the access point that you would like to connect to. Press "X."

    • 6

Press the right button on your remote and navigate to the "WLAN" settings tab. Highlight "WEP" or "WAP-PSK" depending upon your router's wireless settings. Press the right button on your directional pad, followed by the "X" key.

    • 7

Enter your security key, or WAP/WEP key, into the appropriate field. This is the password you initially set up on the wireless router. Press the "X" key to save the Internet settings.

    • 8

Highlight "Test Connection," then press the "X" key. If the security key entered is correct, the Internet connection reads "Succeeded."
