How to Hook Up a PlayStation 3 to a Cable Box

You can connect your PlayStation 3 to your cable box using the video cables that come with your PlayStation to connect the game console to the input ports on the cable box. By connecting your PlayStation 3 to your cable, you will no longer have to change your television's input channel to use your console. Once connected, you can access your PlayStation 3 by changing the video source on your cable box instead of your television.

  Connect the PlayStation 3 component video cable to the back of your PlayStation 3.

  Connect the Red, white, and yello cables to the back of your cable box. Your cable box will have an "Input" section labeled on the back with three input ports with corresponding colors.

  Connect the red and white audio cables to their respective ports located next to the component ports.

  Turn on your television and your cable box.

  Turn on your PlayStation 3.

  Press the "Source" button on your cable remote and change it to "Input 1" to confirm your PlayStation 3 has been connected successfully.
