How to Get the PlayStation 3 Resurgence Map Pack for Free

The "Resurgence" map pack was released for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" on the PlayStation 3 in the form of downloadable content. The only way to get the map pack initially was to pay for it via the PlayStation Store. If you want to get the map pack for free you can technically do so -- it will require the purchase of a special version of the game where the map pack is included for free.

The "Call of Duty 4: Game of the Year Edition" has a suggested retail price of $29.99 as of April 2011, which is the same cost as the regular version of the game. In addition to the regular version of the game, you get every released map pack, including the "Resurgence" map pack, for free.

  Purchase the "Call of Duty 4: Game of the Year Edition" at a local electronics store. You can use the product page for the "Call of Duty 4: Game of the Year Edition" at BestBuy.com to find a store in your area that stocks this version of the game.

  Go to GameStop. GameStop is a store that specializes in the sale of video games. GameStop also sells used video games, which means that you have the potential to get a used copy of the "Call of Duty 4: Game of the Year Edition" and get the entire package for even less than the cost of a new game.
