PS3 Rock Band 2 Options

Released by Harmonix in 2008 for the Sony PlayStation 3, "Rock Band 2" is the second of a series of music games that employs music-themed controllers with which players can play a host of pop and rock songs. The main screen has a selection for game options and four sub-screens allow you to adjust game settings.
  1. Gameplay Settings

    • The "Gameplay Settings" screen has three main sections. The first is a checkbox for "Lefty Mode," which flips all note indicators horizontally for left-handed players. Second is the "Vocal Style" setting. You can set the vocal display style to "scrolling," which scrolls lyrics left to right as the song plays, or "static," which displays an unmoving line of lyrics with a moving placement indicator, like on a karaoke display. The last section is the "Adjust Audio" setting, which allows you to change the volume for specific instruments and adjust crowd noise and sound effect volumes.

    Audio/Video Settings

    • The "Audio/Video Settings" screen has two checkboxes for audio: one to turn "Dolby Digital" on or off and another to turn "Bass Boost" on or off. Dolby Digital enables surround sound on home theaters that have the capability, and "Bass Boost" increases the volume of the bass channel. Video has one setting, a toggle box for "Video Overscan," which increases the display resolution of the game on TVs that have a black border around the main screen. "Adjust Audio" settings are also available on the bottom of this screen.

    Manage Data

    • The "Manage Data" screen has an option to delete or rename data files; you can manage both "Character Data" and "Band Data" files. You can also load a saved file or save the current game on this screen.

    Calibration Settings

    • The "Calibration Settings" screen has two options: "Auto Calibration" and "Manual Calibration." Selecting the "Auto Calibration" option is possible only if you own the wireless "Fender Stratocaster Guitar" controller. Selecting "Auto Calibration" prompts you to plug the guitar controller in and hold it up to the speaker to calibrate the audio settings, and then hold it up to the TV screen to calibrate the video settings. Selecting "Manual Calibration" prompts you to calibrate the audio/video latency by pressing the "X" button every time you hear a series of drum beats.
