How to Hook Up PS3 Live

Turn on your TV and your PlayStation 3.

Click on "Settings" and then click on "Network Settings." Make sure your "Internet Connection" says "enabled."

Click on "Internet Connection Status" and then click "yes" when it asks whether you'd like to continue.

Click "Easy" on the "Select a Setting Method" screen.

Select your connection method. This is either a wired or wireless connection. If you choose a wired connection, you need to have an ethernet cable connecting your PS3 to your router. The ethernet cable came with your PS3 and you just plug one end into the ethernet port on your PS3, and plug the other end into an open port on your router. This is a faster connection than wireless, but if your router is far away from your PS3, you will need to buy a long cable. The cable that comes with the PS3 is only nine feet long.

Click "scan" on the "WLAN Settings Page" and wait for the scan to complete.

Select your Internet connection from the list on the "Internet Connection Settings" page. Press "X" to save your Internet connection settings and PS3 will then connect to the Internet.

Go back to "Settings" and scroll over to the "PlayStation Network" icon.

Scroll down and select "Set Up for PlayStation Network."

Click the "Create a New Account" option.

Enter your name, date of birth, email address, password, home address, language preference, and online username. Once you enter this information, it can not be changed later, so make sure you enter it correctly, and you create an username that you will like. You do not have to enter any credit card information for sign up, but it is optional. Once you finish entering all information, you will be connected to PS3 Live.
