How to Configure the PS3 for an HD TV

High-definition TV is a very common feature among modern televisions, offering you sharpness and clarity of your picture that is ideal for larger-screen models. The feature is also a boon if you own a video game system capable of playing its games and video cut scenes in a high-definition resolution. If you own a PlayStation 3, you can maximize the visual quality of your gaming by upscaling your display settings to a high-definition resolution.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the XMB Home menu in your system configuration.

    • 2

Select "Settings" from the main menu and then "Game Settings."

    • 3

Select "PS/PS2 Upscaler" from the submenu that follows. Select "Normal" or "Full Screen" from the options depending on whether you want to display the games at their original aspect ratios or stretch them to fit the screen.

    • 4

Return to the previous menu and select "PS/PS2 Smoothing" from the available options. Turn the smoothing to "On" and return to the main menu. You are now configured for HDTV.
