How to Hook Up a PC to PS3 As a Media Server

The PlayStation 3 allows you to stream media from your PC via the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance). DLNA-compatible devices, such as the PS3 and the PC, can act as servers to share videos, music, photos and other files with DLNA devices on the same network. Although the PS3 cannot send data, it can receive data from your PC via Windows Media Player.
