How to Connect to a PS3 Online Using a Laptop With Windows Vista

PlayStation 3 allows you to play games against other users over the Internet. If your PS3 is unable to pick up a wireless connection by itself, you can use your laptop computer to create a wireless connection bridge. To connect your PS3 to a wireless Internet broadcast, you must have a wireless adapter connected to your gaming device.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Start" button on your laptop's desktop toolbar. Select "Control Panel" from the "Start" menu.

    • 2

Select "Network and Internet Connections" and click on the "Network Connections." Locate your Internet connection on the "Network Connections" page.

    • 3

Right-click on your Internet connection icon and select "Properties." Select the "Advanced" tab and click on the box that states "Allow other users to connect through this computer's Internet connection." Click the "OK" button to confirm the changes.

    • 4

Click the "Start" button on your desktop and select "Connect to" and then "Set up computer-to-computer network." Give your network connection a name. Set your network as a "WEP" connection, which would make it easy for the PS3 to recognize. Select the "Next" button to create the connection.

    • 5

Turn on your PlayStation 3. Select the "Settings" tab on your dashboard and move down to "Network Settings."

    • 6

Select "Internet Connection Settings" and choose "Wireless." Click the "Scan" options to search for wireless connections in the area. Select the name of the wireless network you created on your laptop and type the password that you entered for access to your network.

    • 7

Select the "Automatic" option for Ethernet, IP, DNS and MTU. Select "Do not use" for the proxy server and "Enable" for Universal Plug and Play, or UPnP.
