How to Enable an Earpiece on a PS3

The PlayStation 3 supports most Bluetooth headsets (also referred to as earpieces) in applications and games that support voice. Headsets are ideal for those who like to chat while playing games and in games that support voice commands. Unlike USB headsets, your Bluetooth headset must first be paired (like wireless controllers) before it will work on the PlayStation 3. Only one Bluetooth headset can be paired to a PlayStation at a time.

Instructions

    • 1

Scroll to the "Settings" icon on the PS3 main menu. Select "Accessory Settings."

    • 2

Select "Manage Bluetooth Devices." You will be asked if you want to register a new Bluetooth device. Select "Yes." Select "Register New Device."

    • 3

Press the "Sync/Pair" (it may be titled something similar) button on your Bluetooth earpiece. Press the "X" button on your PS3 controller to begin scanning for the earpiece. The PS3 will search for a compatible Bluetooth device. After a few seconds, the name of your Bluetooth headset will appear on screen. Select the headset and press the "X" button. If you have a passkey on your Bluetooth headset, you will be prompted to enter the key using the on screen keyboard. The pairing confirmation screen will appear, indicating the pairing is complete. Press the "X" button to be sent back to the settings menu.

Adjust volume settings on your headset. Once again, select "Accessory Settings." Select "Audio Device Settings." Select "Input Device." Find the name of your Bluetooth headset and press the "X" button. Select "Microphone Level." Talk into the earpiece to test the receiving volume and press the "X" button to adjust the volume accordingly. When you are satisfied, select the "OK" button on screen and press the "X" button.
