How to Update Via XMB

The Sony PlayStation 3 is a seventh-generation video game console released in 2006. Like the PlayStation Portable handheld device, the main menu is powered by XMB, or XrossMediaBar, technology. If you need to update either your Sony PlayStation 3 or the PlayStation Portable, you can do it through the XMB menu options. The process for updating your device is the same whether you use the PlayStation 3 or the PlayStation Portable.

     Turn on your device.

     Press "X" to sign in to your profile if you are updating your PlayStation 3.

     Press "Left" until you reach the "Settings" menu. Press "X."

     Highlight "System Update" and press "X."

   • 5

     Keep pressing "Right" to agree to the terms and wait for the update to complete. The system will reboot when completed.
