How to Transfer From a PS3 Hard Drive

  Insert a removable media card into the card slot on your PS3. If it does not have a card slot, plug a USB removable media card reader into one of the USB ports on your PS3. Insert your media card into the reader.

  Press the "PS" button on your controller to bring up the Xross Media Bar, or XMB. The horizontal navigation on the XMB contains categories of items stored on your hard drive, such as photos and music. When a category is selected, the vertical navigation bar will show options for items within that category. Use the "X" button to confirm a selected item, the "O" button to cancel an option and the triangle button to see an options menu or control panel.

  Select the category of the files you would like to transfer by moving to it with the directional pad or left thumbstick. Press the "X" button to choose it.

  Highlight a file or folder you would like to transfer using the directional pad or thumbstick. Press the "X" button to select it.

  Press the triangle button and choose the "Copy" option by pressing the "X" button. Choose the correct external storage device you want to transfer to by moving to it with the directional pad or thumbstick and pressing the "X" button to confirm your selection. A copy of the file will be transferred to the external device and is ready to be transferred to other computers or devices.
