Instructions
Verify that your discs are clean and scratch-free. Scratched discs have difficulty running on the PlayStation 3.
Use a product designed to clean the optic lasers on disc-based systems. A dirty optic laser causes disc-read errors. Such products can be found at any major electronics store.
Verify that the type of disc you are inserting is compatible with the PlayStation 3 system. For example, all PlayStation 3 systems sold after 2008 are incompatible with PlayStation 2 discs. Consult your PS3's manual for information on which discs your system can and cannot play.
Move your PlayStation 3 to a new location. If your PlayStation 3 is not in a well-ventilated area, such as an enclosed entertainment center, it will overheat and produce errors.
Contact Sony about repairing or replacing your PlayStation 3 if you have tried other methods and your system still doesn't work; your system might be defective.
