How to Convert Your PlayStation 3 From 120 Volt to DC

When using your Sony PlayStation 3, you typically plug in the gaming system directly to an AC power connection. This is a standard electrical outlet used to power most household electronics. If you want to use the PlayStation 3 on the road while traveling, you must convert your PS3 to run off of the DC power current in your vehicle. This is the same power used in the car's cigarette outlet.

  Connect the DC end of the adapter into the cigarette outlet of your vehicle. This looks just like a cell phone car charger, except one end has a plug that functions like a standard household outlet.

  Plug the power cable running from the Sony PlayStation 3 into the AC outlet found on the adapter.

  Turn on your vehicle and power on the PS3. The gaming platform is now able to play while running off your vehicle's battery.
