How to Troubleshoot a Nyko FrontMan

"Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band" are two popular video game franchises that offer games for the Sony PlayStation 3. In order to take full advantage of the games, you need a guitar controller, such as the Nyko FrontMan. If the equipment begins to malfunction, you need to troubleshoot the guitar controller to determine why the PS3 isn't reading or recording its actions.

  Fully charge the battery on the Nyko FrontMan guitar controller. If the PS3 is not reading the equipment, it is generally due to the battery being dead. Connect the USB cable from the PS3 to the USB connection port on the Nyko controller, then power on the PS3. This charges the battery while the PS3 is on. Let the controller charge for a few hours.

  Connect the Nyko FrontMan controller to the PS3 before booting up the system. Once the PlayStation detects the controller, you can disconnect it from the USB cable.

  Download any available system updates for the PS3. The system updates ensure the gaming platform is able to read the controller. When you load "Guitar Hero" or "Rock Band," you are informed of any available update. Accept the update and allow it to install onto your PS3.

  Push down hard on the fret buttons of the Nyko FrontMan. The controller is not as sensitive as other guitar controllers, so it is necessary to press down extra firmly to record your actions.
