How to Change a Lost Password on a PS3

The PlayStation 3 connects to the Internet via the PlayStation Network. When you create a PlayStation Network account, you must also create a password for the account. If you forgot your password, there's no need to worry. You can reset your password and create a new one by using the PlayStation Network password reset process. After your password is created, you can once again sign into the PlayStation Network.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the PlayStation Network website on your computer (see Resources).

    • 2

Click "Sign in" at the top of the page, and then click "Forgot Password."

    • 3

Enter your user name, which is the email address you created the account with, as well as your date of birth. Click "Submit."

    • 4

Click "Reset Using E-mail" or "Reset Using Security Question." If you wish to have a password reset link emailed to you, click "Reset Using E-mail" followed by "Continue." If you want to gain access to the password reset by answering a security question you entered when you created the account, click "Reset Using Security Question."

    • 5

Click the link in your email inbox from the PlayStation Network or answer your security question. A new page will appear. Enter your new password in the first text box, and then enter it again in the second text box. Click "Continue." A message on the screen will confirm the changes. Click "Continue." The sign-in page will appear. Either sign into your PlayStation Network account or close the page.
