How to Hook a PS3 Wireless With a Bad Signal

The PlayStation 3 is natively capable of connecting itself to wireless Internet networks. If you have a weak or bad wireless signal, you can still connect to the network the same way you would with a computer. The only difference will be that the PS3's Web browser will load pages slower than normal, and online game play may not be possible if the connection is so bad that it cannot maintain communication with the PlayStation Network.

Instructions

    • 1

Select "Settings" from your PS3's main menu. Choose "Internet Connection Settings" from the "Settings" menu.

    • 2

      Select "Internet Connection Settings."

    • 3

Select "Easy" when prompted to choose your setup style. When asked to pick between a wired or wireless connection, pick "Wireless." Choose "Scan" to view a list of available wireless connections.

    • 4

Select the listing (by highlighting it and pressing "X" on the controller) for the wireless network with the bad signal that you want your PS3 to connect to. Select the type of security that is in place on that network followed by its password (if applicable).

    • 5

Select "Save." Your Sony PlayStation 3 is online, even though the wireless network has a weak connection.
