Instructions
Turn off the PS3.
Plug the HDMI cable into the PS3's HDMI out plug-in or connect your component cable's output into the PS3's "AV Multi Out" plug-in. Both outputs are positioned on the rear of the PS3. You can use any HDMI cable for the PS3, but you must use a PS3-specific component cable. Depending on your purchased PS3 bundle, the system may or may not come with either an HDMI or component cable.
Plug the HDMI cable into an available HDMI input on the HDTV. If you are using a component cable, insert the five color-coded component input on the HDTV. Depending on your HDTV, HDMI and component inputs are typically located on the back or the sides of the HDTV.
Turn on the TV if it is not on already and press the "Input" or similar button to view the HDMI or component that corresponds with where you plugged the PS3 into the HDTV.
Turn on the PS3. If you are using a component cable the console automatically configures the video settings. If you are using an HDMI cable proceed to Step 6.
Choose "Yes" twice to allow the console to optimize the video and audio settings to adjust to the HDMI cable.
