How to Use the Guitar Hero Complete Set for PS2 on a PS3

When Sony developed the PlayStation 3, many of the higher-capacity consoles were backward-compatible, meaning they could run games for the original PlayStation and PlayStation 2. However, the controllers were not backward-compatible -- you can't use a PlayStation 2 controller on a PlayStation 3. This means that games with specialized controllers, like Guitar Hero, can't be played on the PlayStation 3 without special adaptation hardware.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the USB side of your PS2 to PS3 adapter into the PS3's USB port, which is on the front of the PS3 in the bottom left-hand corner.

    • 2

Plug your PS2 Guitar Hero guitar into the guitar port of the PS2 to PS3 adapter. You will need a separate adapter for each instrument you plan to use.

    • 3

Set the adapter to "Guitar Hero" when prompted. You'll now be able to use any of your PS2 Guitar Hero controllers with your PS3.
