How to Copy DVDs on a PlayStation 3

Because the Sony PlayStation 3 has a built-in internal hard disk drive, you can store files on that drive the same way you would on a copy. This includes copying files from CDs and DVDs that you put into the PS3's optical disc drive. Note that the PlayStation 3 will not copy any copy-protected DVDs, like the kind you buy in stores with Hollywood movies on them. However, the PS3 will copy DVDs filled with media files that you've burned using your computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the DVD disc that contains media files you want to copy into the mouth of your PlayStation 3. This will automatically turn on your PlayStation 3 and load the menu.

    • 2

Choose "Video" from the PlayStation 3 menu.

    • 3

Choose the icon for your DVD from the "Video" menu.

    • 4

Highlight the file you want to copy. Press "Triangle."

    • 5

Select the "Copy" option. Select the listing for your PlayStation 3's hard disk drive. The selected file from the DVD will be copied to your PS3's hard drive. Repeat this step for any other file on the disc you want to copy.
