How to Convert a Playstation to Save PSP Games

The hard drive in the Sony PlayStation 3 is vastly larger than the memory stick that is used to store data on Sony's PSP. If you've got a lot of game saves and downloaded information on your PSP memory stick that you don't want to lose but need to free up room, you can actually copy all of this information over to your Sony PlayStation 3's internal hard disk drive for archival purposes.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your Sony PSP to your Sony PlayStation 3 via the PSP's included USB cable. One end of the USB cable goes into the PSP and the other can go into one of the USB inputs on the front of your PlayStation 3.

    • 2

Enable the USB connection on your Sony PSP. From its main menu, select "Settings" then "USB Connection" to enable this mode. This will allow your PlayStation 3 to recognize the connected PSP.

    • 3

Select the "Game" menu option on your PS3.

    • 4

Select "Game Save Data." In this window, select the icon for your PSP to view all of the game save data on your Sony PSP.

    • 5

Highlight the save game file that you want to transfer to your PS3. Press the "Triangle" button on your PS3's remote control. Select the "Copy" option to copy that save game file to your PlayStation 3's internal hard drive.
