Instructions
Power on the PS3 and navigate to the "Network" option. Have the PS3 search for an available update. Typically, USB port problems are due to outdated system software. Accept the update option and wait for the files to install onto the PS3. The system restarts automatically, correcting your USB port problems.
Press the "PS" button in the middle of the PlayStation 3 controller you have connected to the USB port. If you don't press this button, the PS3 is unable to detect the equipment and use the controller.
Connect only Sony PS3 equipment to the gaming device. Some third-party brands do not work with the USB connection.
Power down the PS3 with the shut-down button on the rear of the device. Wait two to three minutes, and then power it back on. This performs a hard reset, correcting internal hardware problems on the PS3, including the USB connection port issue. Once it resets, the gaming device is ready to use the USB connection again.
