Things You'll Need
Instructions
Connect your 100GB USB drive to your computer.
Open the Start menu, select "Computer."
Right-click the 100GB USB drive, select "Format..."
Select "FAT32" as the file system format. This is important because the PlayStation 3 is unable to read other formats. Give the volume a name. Click "Start" and confirm the action. You are warned that all data will be erased. This is necessary to format the drive.
Open the drive after it's formatted by selecting "Start," opening "Computer" and choosing the drive. Create four new folders in the drive. Right-click in the drive, select "New" and choose "New Folder." The the folders "Photo," "Video," "Music" and "Game."
Plug the newly formatted 100GB USB drive into the PlayStation 3 USB port. Once connected, you can access, view, use and save data to the USB drive, increasing the total amount of available drive space.
