How to Set Up a Remote for PlayStation 3

      Turn on the TV and the PS3 console.

      Pair the PS3 controller to the console by connecting them with the USB cable that came with the system. The PS3 USB ports are located on front panel of the console. The controller's USB port is located between the right and left "R1/R2" and "L1/L2" buttons. The pairing will be completed automatically.

      Leave the controller connected to the PS3 to charge it. The controller's port indicator lights will flash as the device is charging. The indicator lights will stop flashing when the charge is complete.

      Disconnect the controller from the console to use it wirelessly. Press and hold the "PS" button for three seconds to bring up an on-screen prompt displaying the battery charge level.

      Press the "PS" button on the controller to assign a number to the controller. The port number indicator lights on the controller will flash, then one number will remain lit. The port number that remains lit is the number the PS3 assigned to your controller.
