My Guitar Hero Encore Guitar is Not Working on a PS3

The wireless guitar for Guitar Hero Encore has always had connectivity problems, especially on the Playstation 3 platform. Activision, the game's manufacturer, has hints and tips to get rid of this tiresome problem. The company cites connectivity issues as the main reason for glitches with the Guitar Hero Encore guitar. The 2.80 firmware update causes the Guitar Hero instruments to connect to the Playstation with a high controller number. As a result, Guitar Hero does not recognize the instrument at launch. To remedy this, you must change the controller assignment in the Playstation 3 XMB (XrossMediaBar) system menu.

     Open the default media face XMB, which launches as soon as you turn your Playstation 3 on.

     Scroll through to the "Settings" menu. Click on the "Accessory setting" sub-menu under the main "Settings" menu.

     Locate the "Reassign Controllers" sub-menu. Click on this menu and assign the first instrument to controller number one by holding down the connectivity button on each instrument. Increment the controller numbers for any additional instruments that you have connected. If using a microphone, connect a standard Playstation 3 controller before launching the game.
