How to Hook Up a PS3 to a Direct TV Box

Sony's PlayStation 3 console features several ports. The ports are used to connect the console to high definition televisions and receivers. The PS3 includes a standard RCA Audio/Video (A/V) cable to provide connection. A/V ports are found on virtually every piece of common television equipment, including Direct TV receivers. In order to connect the PS3 to the Direct TV receiver, you must use the provided A/V cables.

Instructions

      Locate the A/V cables supplied with your PlayStation 3. View the back of your PlayStation 3 console. Find the port entitled "AV Multi Out," located next to the "HDMI" port. Connect the rectangular end of the A/V Cable to the AV Multi Out port.

      View the back of your Direct TV receiver. Locate the port on the receiver named "Composite Video." The composite video port is yellow. Connect the yellow end of the A/V cable to the Composite Video Port.

      Find the ports on the back of the receiver titled "Stereo Audio." The Stereo Audio ports include a white and red port used to connect the rest of the A/V cable. Insert the white end of the A/V cable into its corresponding white port.

      Insert the red end of the A/V cable into its designated red port. The PlayStation 3 will now be completely connected to your Direct TV receiver.
