Disconnect all power and A/V cables from the PS3 console. Remove the rubber screw caps on the left side of the console with the flat-head screwdriver. Unscrew the Torx screw beneath the cover with the Torx T10 screwdriver. Remove the PS3 nameplate.
Unscrew the eight screws on the top cover of the PS3 with the Phillips screwdriver. Lift the top cover off of the PS3 console. Secure all screws in a safe place for reassembly.
Unscrew the five screws on the front and back edge of the console with the Phillips screwdriver. Remove the metal cover on top of the Blu-ray drive. Take out the Blu-ray drive; it will simply slide out. Unplug the Blu-ray's power cable on the motherboard. Unplug the Blu-ray's ribbon cable underneath the motherboard.
Unscrew the screws in the black plastic cover in the motherboard with the Phillips screwdriver. Lift the plastic cover up and unscrew the four screws securing the laser lens with the Phillips screwdriver.
Remove the laser lens and insert the new laser and lens assembly into the space. Reattach the four screws with the Phillips screwdriver. You have now repaired the PS3 laser lens. Reassemble the PS3.
