Place the console near your television in a flat area with good ventilation. Try placing it on a hard surface, such as wood or your television, instead of your carpet, which can cause the console to overheat.
Determine what types of audio/video inputs your television has by checking the inputs on the rear of the TV or by referring to your television owner's manual.
Plug the audio/video cable's output into your PS3's multi-out plug-in, located on the back of the console.
Plug the audio/video cable's input into your television.
Insert the power adapter cable into your PS3's power output on the rear of the console.
Plug the other end of the PS3's adapter cable into a wall outlet. This supplies power to the console.
Plug the controller or controllers into the PS3.
Turn on the console. The system's initial setup wizard starts up.
Follow the prompts to set up the controllers, set the date and time and configure other basic settings.
