How to Copy Music to a PS3 Hard Drive

Sony's PlayStation 3 is a media powerhouse that allows users to listen to music and view pictures on the console in addition to enjoying its gaming capabilities. You can copy music onto your PlayStation 3 with a few simple steps.

      Plug your USB device into your PlayStation 3's USB port. If you are using a USB device such as an external hard drive that requires a power source, plug it into an electrical outlet.

      Power on the PlayStation 3 by pressing down on the "Home" button on the PlayStation 3's controller. Sign in by highlighting your profile name and pressing "X" on the controller. Once you are signed in, use the directional pad to highlight the "Music" category; press "X" to select it.

      Highlight the "USB" icon and press "X" once again. You will now see the songs that are stored on your USB device. Find the songs you want to copy to your PlayStation 3's hard drive by highlighting each song individually and pressing the "Triangle" button. A menu will appear. Click "Copy" by pressing the "X" button to copy the song to the PlayStation 3's hard drive. Do this for each song you want to copy and you will be able to listen to your favorite music from your PlayStation 3.
