Turn off your PS3, remove all the cables from the back of the unit and turn the unit on its side. The square warranty sticker will be visible at the top of the side of the unit.
Peel off the warranty sticker and use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the single screw under the sticker.
Slide the top cover to the side and pop it off the unit.
Remove all screws from the top case of the PS3.
Lift the top plastic case off the unit to expose the disc drive inside.
Lift the DVD drive out of the unit and unplug the cable from the corner of the bottom of the drive.
Unplug all ribbon cables on the outside of the drive and remove all screws from the drive housing.
Remove the top half of the drive case and the top of the disc drive will be visible. The laser will be visible in the middle of the drive. Remove the circular plastic cover over the drive.
Remove all screws from the top of the drive. Lift the top part of the drive off so you have full access to the laser.
Use your microfiber cloth to wipe the lens clean of any dirt or grime that may have accumulated on it.
Check the ribbon cable that connects underneath the laser. If it isn't secure, unplug it and plug it back in.
Reverse the steps for reassembly of your PS3.
