Things You'll Need
Instructions
Purchase a cardboard box or find a used cardboard box. If you use a previously-used cardboard box, make sure that your box does not have any rips, tears or holes. Do not use a weak, unstable box. Your cardboard box needs to be bigger than your Playstation 3 box. Choose a cardboard box that is at least two inches larger than your Playstation 3 box on all sides. The gaps are needed for the addition of protective packing material.
Assemble (or fold) your cardboard box, leaving the top end open.
Apply at least two layers of packing tape to the over-lapping area where the flaps meet on the bottom or your cardboard box to provide support for the box.
Fill the bottom of the box with about one inch of packing material, such as plastic foam packing pellets or bubble packing sheets. Packing material keeps your Playstation 3 box from shaking during transport and helps to prevent damage to your Playstation 3.
Insert your Playstation 3 box into your cardboard box, resting it on top of the packing material. Center the Playstation 3 box inside of your cardboard box, leaving an even amount of space on all sides.
Fill the gaps between your Playstation 3 box and the cardboard box with more packing material.
Cover the Playstation 3 box with about one inch of packing material.
Close the top flaps of your cardboard box.
Apply at least two layers of packing tape to the over-lapping area where the flaps meet on the top of your cardboard box.
Address the box to the recipient.
Contact a parcel service, such as the United States Postal Service (USPS), United Parcel Service (UPS), FedEx or DHL, and inquire about their shipping rates. The weight of your package, the distance of the delivery and the requested delivery speed affect the shipping rate. Choose a service which provides you with a reasonable price and quick delivery. Services such as package tracking might require extra payment.
