I Can't Get My Star Wars PS2 Game to Play on My PS3

The Star Wars saga has spawned many video games based in the Star Wars world. If you bought a Star Wars game when the PlayStation 2 was popular, you may want to play it on a PlayStation 3. Many upgraded video game systems allow for backwards compatibility with previous systems, and the PlayStation 3 is no exception, but only certain PS3 models are backwards compatible.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the PlayStation 3 around, so that you can see the back of the console. Examine the product label for the model number, which starts with "CECH."

    • 2

Look for one of the following model numbers: "CECHE01," CECHA01," and "CECHB01." Those three model numbers are the only PS3 models that support backwards compatibility; you cannot play your PlayStation 2 Star Wars game on any other PlayStation 3 console.

    • 3

Turn on your PS3 and sign into your profile. Navigate to "Settings" and click "System update." Any new updates will automatically be downloaded and installed as long as you are connected to the Internet. If your PS3 is backwards compatible and still will not play the Star Wars PS2 game, an update may help.

Examine the Star Wars disc. If there are any major scratches or marks on the disc, the PlayStation 3 may not read the disc. You can use a game disc repair kit to attempt to repair the game.
