How to Put PS1 Saves on a PS3

While Sony's PlayStation 3 is capable of playing older PlayStation 1 games, it cannot load files directly from a PlayStation 1 memory card. Fortunately, transferring PS1 save files to a PS3 is easy if you have a USB drive.

  • PlayStation 3
  • PlayStation 1 save files
  • USB drive

Instructions

      Attach your USB drive to your computer. Create a directory on the drive named PS3. Inside PS3, create a directory named "EXPORT." Inside "EXPORT," create a directory named "PSV."

      Locate your PlayStation 1 save files on your computer. They will have a PSV (.psv) extension.

      Copy the PSV files into the directory named "PSV."

    • 4

      Plug your USB drive into your PlayStation 3 and you're ready to load your games.
