How to Use a PS3 Controller As a Computer Controller Patch

You can connect your PS3's Sixaxis controller to your computer using a free patch available off the Internet. Some PC games just work better with a controller than with the mouse and keyboard. This is especially true with console ports. In the past PC gamers have had to rely on third party game pads, but with the latest generation of consoles, you can connect the controllers to your computer just as you can with the console itself.

Instructions

  Download the file Sixaxis_PS3_Win32_Driver_For_PC.rar file (see Resources).

  Unpack the .rar file using RAR extraction software (see Resources). There are two files inside.

  Install the file libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe by double clicking on it.

  Plug the PS3 controller into the computer's USB port with the data cable that came with the PS3.

  Run the file ps3sixaxis_en.exe by double clicking on it. Press the "PS" button on the controller to complete the connection.
