How to Fix a Guitar 3 PS2 Sensor

The strum button on your Guitar Hero controller uses two sensors to register when the button is strummed. These sensors are inside the unit on the back of the strum button. One is above the button and the other is below. If your strum button is broken, you can open up the controller and fix the problem yourself.

Instructions

      Unplug your guitar controller from the PS3 and use your Phillips screwdriver to remove all screws from the back panel of the controller.

      Remove the panel from the controller and notice the rear of the strum button inside the housing. There is a microswitch above and below the housing.

      Loosen the screw holding the microswitch and use the tweezers to grip the metal housing around the switch.

      Turn the switch housing counter-clockwise and you will notices a tab at the bottom of the switch connect to the top of the strum button. This will re-establish the connection for the sensor. Tighten the housing screw.

      Loosen the housing screw on the switch just below the strum bar and twist the housing clockwise until the tab connects with the bottom of the strum bar. Tighten the screw.

      Replace the back panel of the controller and the screws.
