Things You'll Need
Instructions
Open the PS3 controller. With the USB connecting wire disconnected from the controller, unscrew the 5 screws on the backside of the controller with a 2.9 millimeter sized Phillips head screwdriver. Once removed, press in on the holding clip located between the two analog control sticks to pry open the controller, then lift carefully.
Grip the clip and slide it straight out towards the side of the controller, to carefully unclip the battery from the circuit board. The battery is attached only by a small clip and wire to the controller, and is not secured into place by any other method.
Slide the clip on until it clicks into place, to connect the new battery. A battery with a higher milliamp output, such as 1000, can be utilized as well, as it affects only the power provided to the controller and lasts longer. Do not use a different voltage battery, as the 3.7 volt is the only battery that will work with the controller.
