How to Troubleshoot Remote Play PS3 & PSP

One of the most interesting features of the PlayStation 3 is its remote play capability, which allows users to play games currently on the PlayStation 3 using a PSP. There are plenty of games that use this feature, including the PixelJunk series, LEGO Batman and the SingStar series. If you are having issues with the remote play feature, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to repair your connection and use this feature.

Instructions

    • 1

Check your wireless connection. The remote play feature requires an Internet connection, and will not work if your wireless Internet connection is not enabled. Check your modem and router and ensure that your other wireless devices are working.

    • 2

Update your PSP firmware. The PSP needs at least the 3.72 version of the PSP software in order for the remote play feature to work. If you have not updated your PSP software, connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi and download it by selecting the "software update" icon on the XMB.

Re-register your PSP and PlayStation 3. If you have let your PSP's charge deplete or you have reset either the PSP or the PlayStation 3, your registration may not be active. To re-register your PSP and PlayStation 3, connect the PSP system to the PlayStation 3 system using a mini-USB cable (the same type used to charge your PlayStation 3 controller) and then select "USB Mode" on the PSP from the "Settings" menu. On the PlayStation 3, select "Settings" followed by "Remote Play Settings". From the menu, select "Register Device". After a few moments you will see a "Registration completed" message
