How to Copy PS3 Games to a HDD

The Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3), much like other seventh-generation home gaming consoles, comes with a built-in hard drive that can store music, game save files, or even entire games. By using the PlayStation Store, which is available in every PS3 console, players can download games from the PlayStation One, or even whole PS3 games and copy them directly to the PS3 hard drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn your PS3 on. Select the "PlayStation Store" option in the console's main menu.

    • 2

Select the "Games" option in the "PlayStation Store" menu.

    • 3

Select the "PS3" option in the games menu to bring up a list of PS3 games available for download. Select the game you wish to download to proceed to the download screen.

    • 4

Select the "Confirm" option to begin the download. If you do not have enough PlayStation Points in your online wallet, you will be asked to add more. Use the information on your credit or debit card to add more points to your wallet and continue the download.

    • 5

Exit the PlayStation Store after the game download has completed. The game has been copied to your hard drive. You will find the game under the "Games" section of your PS3's main menu.
