Instructions
Set your Sony PlayStation 3 on a shelf or table where it isn't physically touching another piece of electronics equipment, like a cable box or digital converter box. Never set two pieces of electronics equipment directly against each other, as it could cause both devices to overheat. Leave a space between your PS3 and the wall.
Plug your PlayStation 3's power cable into a wall outlet or power strip.
Connect your PlayStation 3 to your television set. The PlayStation 3 comes with a set of composite cables (red, white and yellow in color) that can be used with standard definition televisions. If you have an HDTV, the PS3 also supports component video cables (red, blue and green) or HDMI cables (black), but both of these cables will have to be purchased separately. One end of the cable you choose to use plugs into the back of the PS3 (with outlets labeled "Out") and the other plugs into the back of your television (with outlets labeled "In").
Press the "PS" button on the included Sony PlayStation 3 wireless controller. This will turn on your system, allowing you to use it for the first time.
