How to Install PS3 Themes & Downloads

If you feel like spicing up the look of your Playstation 3 (PS3), installing a new theme or two is a great place to start. A new theme will add a background and set of icons that better suit your style or just freshen things up for your gaming experience. With new themes, you can personalize your PS3.

Things You'll Need

Flash drive or other USB memory device
Internet access

  Search for "PS3 themes" on your preferred search engine, to download the theme or themes you want to install. Choose a website and then the theme you want to download. Save the file (.p3t) to an easy-to-find location, such as the desktop or downloads folder.

  Plug your flash drive or other USB memory device into your PC or Mac. Create a "PS3" folder on your flash drive, and then create a "THEME" folder inside the PS3 folder. Note that both folder names should be entirely uppercase.

  Copy the theme file(s) to the THEME folder.

  Plug your flash drive into your PS3 to transfer the theme.

  Navigate to "Settings" on your Xross Media Bar (XMB) and select "Theme Settings." Select "Theme" and then "Install" in the submenu. Select your flash drive, and then select the theme you want to install. If you are installing multiple themes, repeat this step as necessary. The theme can be easily applied by selecting it from the theme list and then selecting "Apply."
